This handcrafted Great Horned Owl is made from quarter-sawn oak, a distinctive cut of wood prized for its prominent grain and characteristic ray fleck. Every Great Horned Owl is individually cut by hand on the bandsaw, then shaped, sanded, and finished to reveal the natural character of the quarter-sawn oak. Unlike painted or stained wood, the remarkable color you see is created by nature. THE CATALYST
3 C’s are for the Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland skyline (left to right). As there are beehives on the property, you will see two bees on the piece. Located at the Holmes County Open Air Art Museum on the property at the Inn at Honey Run.
The concept is to highlight Ohio’s three large cities, yet come to The Inn among the rolling hills, streams, and landscape of Holmes County. Reclaimed barnwood is the medium.

Capturing the Heart of Ohio’s Capital …along the Scioto River
Few skylines represent the growth, energy, and character of a community quite like downtown Columbus. From its recognizable skyline and historic bridges to the steady flow of the Scioto River, Columbus reflects a city where history, innovation, and opportunity come together. This handcrafted piece celebrates the city's architectural character while honoring the craftsmanship and natural beauty found in reclaimed lumber.
Much of the wood in this piece came from a barn built in the early 1900s. Planks of native wood species of Hickory, Walnut, Oak, and Cherry from the homestead, harvested on site, had been stored in the loft for nearly 100 years and were used in this piece.
